A Prayer Answered
In the legendary freedom speech of Martin Luther King, Jr. "I Have a Dream" delivered 28 August 1963, at the Lincoln Memorial, Washington D.C., Martin Luther made a declaration that one day the children of color and the whites, no matter what race they are from will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual: Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!
Today, the churches in Vietnam are singing a brand new song echoing these words that they are indeed free at last. Because of persistent prayer and believing that one day they would once again freely worship without the fear of being interrupted by the authorities.
When asked how I would describe it, all I can think of is "A MIRACLE OF MIRACLES". After 31 years of Religious Persecution under a Communist Government, the Vietnamese people are now able to gather openly to worship without the fear of being arrested and tortured. Today, thousands of churches are coming out of the underground with congregations of approximately 40-50 people in each house church. Reports are coming back of mass conversions in the thousands throughout the nation and whole villages in the mountainous areas are 100% Christian. Neighbours are winning neighbours in an seemingly unstoppable move of God while Governments in the neighbouring countries of Laos and Cambodia are extending an open door to the Vietnamese church.
